Plastic is one of the most widely used materials in the world. It is light, cheap and resilient, so they can be used in many different ways. The problem with plastic is not how it is used – an aspect which is generally harmless -, but how it is treated once the life of products made of plastic comes to an end. Since 1950 almost half of the plastic generated has ended up in sewers or it has been disposed of in natural environments out of which only 9% has been properly recycled.
How plastic waste is treated varies from country to country and the recycling of it is still a pending issue. However, recycling is the best way to deal with plastic waste since it has a visible impact on the environment and generates meaningful socio-economic gains.
By establishing rules to promote the act of recycling, manufacturers of plastic products, plastic waste treatment plants and consumers together are able to raise awareness on the development of recycling methods.
For this very reason and by staying true to our business model and contributing to a Circular Economy, Plasbel® has its own recycling plant where we collect and reuse every single bit of waste generated during our production processes. Plasbel® is also a member of SIG Ecoembes and has signed collaboration agreements with the country’s most important plastic treatment plants with the goal in mind to incorporate plastic into its products and by so doing we offer plastic a new range of uses. On top of this, we have ink and thinner processing units, which we reuse, too.

What do we do at our recycling plant?
At Plasbel® recycling plant we recycle all the waste generated during our production processes. In this way, we make sure we save on the use of raw materials and therefore guarantee the sustainability aspect of our products.
The waste generated by our production processes are prepared to be reused and transformed into a new type of recycled material, which will in turn be used and reintroduced in the market.
As we have previously mentioned, thanks to Plasbel® recycling plant we are able to maximise the use of the raw materials we used. In this way, we can recycle and reuse 100% of the waste we generate.
The waste generated during our production process is prepared to be reused.
To do this, we make use of plastic extrusion machines which recycle raw materials and which are designed to make plastic sheets out of these recycled materials. Therefore, we are able to guarantee excellent and homogeneous materials. Apart from this, we make sure we test our products thoroughly to ensure maximum quality. Also, thanks to our in-house lab we are continuously testing all our products.
In conclusion, by recycling and reusing the materials used throughout our manufacturing processes, we are able to extend the life of said materials and we put them to new use.
We have optimized and high technology extruders to ensure excellent and consistent product quality.
Our commitment to the environment
(January - October 2019)
From the beginning of the year (January – October 2019), at Plasbel’s recycling plant we have been able to recycle and reuse 6,164 tons of material coming from packaging. This weight is equivalent to putting 6,000 cars together.
At Plasbel® we have a truly clear goal in mind: zero waste at our premises. Our target is to reduce our carbon footprint and to commit as much as we can to protecting the environment. In this way, we will keep contributing to circularity and engaging our clients, and the society as a whole, to recycle and reuse plastic.
