Walki Plasbel is committed to quality, environment and food safety
Fulfilling our commitment to food safety, respect for the environment and its protection are key elements in the development of our economic activity. In order to comply with them, we have a Quality, Environment and Food Safety Policy that includes these principles.
We make the most of our raw materials and reuse our own recycled material
At Walki Plasbel we manage waste in an efficient way, saving on raw materials and reusing the by-products generated during our production process, such as wrappers, packaging, waste, etc., which are all transformed into a new recycled raw material.
We pursue excellence in environmental performance through the entire life cycle of our operations:
We carry out responsible water use and management

Walki Plasbel obtains the AENOR certification for carbon footprint
Walki Plasbel has obtained the verification on the calculation of the carbon footprint that confirms that our company is committed to the environment after successfully passing an independent verification process performed by AENOR.
What is Carbon Footprint?
Carbon footprint is an index to measure the impact on global warming. It indicates the emissions of greenhouse effect gases (GHG) that have an impact on the environment on each
process of the manufacturing, and comercialisation of our products.
Which are the advantages of reducing the Carbon Footprint?
- It allows us to reduce the energy costs and to position ourselves as an environmentally responsible, open and sustainable company.
- We follow the legislation on this matter.
- We create social value and commitment.
- We improve our corporate reputation and our brands.
- We optimize resources more efficiently.
- We contribute to the fight against climate change.
Scope emissions
The minimum scope for the Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente for registering the carbon footprint of the GHG emissions are scopes 1 and 2.
Walki Plasbel has also include scope 3 of the GHG emissions.
Scope1: Register all direct GHG emissions
Scope 2: Register indirect GHG emissions from consumption of purchased energy
Scope 3: Register other indirect emissions
Scope3: Upstream (purchases, wastes, trips, etc.)
Scope3: Downstream (sales, deliveries to customers)
- Scope 1 – 1,61%
- Scope 2 – 12,9%
- Scope 3 – 85,5%
Walki Plasbel is committed to energy efficiency
and the use of renewable energy by replacing higher energy-efficient motor and renovating our air conditioning equipment. With these action, we have managed to reduce the emission of 611.23 tonnes of CO2 per year. This is equivalent to the
average CO emission of 3.5 million Km from a diesel car.

This action has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Region of Murcia.
Walki Plasbel is part of Operation Clean Sweep (OCS)
Walki Plasbel has been a member of the OCS, Operation Clean Sweep initiative, since 2018. We have been incorporating the best practises regarding the handling and use of plastic pellets in our processes and management according to this initiative.
OCS or Operation Clean Sweep is a global initiative of the plastics industry to reduce potential leakage of pellets into the environment, i.e. primary microplastics, in the form of granules, flakes or resin powder. This initiative is progressing thanks to everyone’s commitment.
This voluntary initiative is implemented in many countries in North America. Any member of the plastics processing sector in Spain can join the initiative through ANAIP, Asociación Española de Industriales de Plásticos (Spanish Plastics Industry Association), which holds the rights to OCS in Spain.
The certification of the degree of OCS implementation recognises companies that, on a voluntary basis, actively commit themselves to reduce environmental waste, as well as to raise awareness among their employees, while they time improve their working conditions at the same time.
The commitment of each and every company is essential to prevent the loss of pellets, from management staff to warehouse employees. This is why Plasbel has, since joining OCS, incorporated the best practices in management and business processes, ensuring that our plastic pellets are managed responsibly and that there is no leakage into the environment.

We optimize the compressors’ pressure band, reducing it to the minimum necessary, resulting in energy savings of 3.5%.
Energy savings in cooling production of over 40%
Design, development and introduction of water cooling system through energy- efficient water-air chillers. We have replaced water chillers with ESSER values of 2 with water chillers with ESSER values of up to 4.5.
Energy savings of around 40% in lighting
Mercury vapor lamps are replaced by LED technology lamps, achieving an increase in both light output and energy savings of over respectively 10% and around 40%.
