We have carried out a series of actions aimed at promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Region of Murcia.

The consequences of climate change, caused by carbon pollution from the production and burning of fossil fuels, are already visible: increased risk and duration of drought and forest fires, heavy storms, reduction of snow caps and extinction of wild species.

Conventional energy sources such as coal and natural gas are major contributors to climate change. Non-renewable electricity uses large amounts of water and pollutes air and water. In addition, dependence on conventional energy sources exposes consumers to price fluctuations and harms our health and the environment.

Some tips

Energy efficiency can be achieved by:

  • Using energy-efficient devices for lighting, cooling and heating, etc.
  • Improving the design of our buildings and landscapes.
  • Changing our behaviour (such as turning off lights when leaving a room).
  • Improving system operations in order to optimize many functions within a home, business, city or other location and, as a result, reducing energy use. These systems can, for example, employ real-time feedback or automated controls.
  • The adoption of local, state, or federal policies and programmes can significantly increase energy efficiency.

Cooling machines

Renewal of coolers in the production system for new coolers with greater energy efficiency and consequently lower energy consumption, achieving a reduction in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Objetive:
To make progress in evaluating and improving the energy efficiency of companies, particularly SMEs.

25,9 toe/year

Motors

Renewal of motors by alternating current motors in extrusion machines, aimed at promoting energy efficiency, achieving a reduction in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Objetive:
To make progress in evaluating and improving the energy efficiency of companies, particularly SMEs.

117,46 tep/año

Annual GHG emission savings:
475,71 tCO2

Air Conditioning Equipment

Renovation of air conditioning equipment in offices by changing the cooling system in order to reduce energy consumption and thus reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Objetive:
Promotion of the use of renewable energies by companies, in particular SMEs.

Annual energy savings:
7,56 tep/año

Annual GHG emission savings:
30,62 tCO2

Financial aid from the European Union:
11.286,66 €

With these actions in mind,

we have managed to reduce the emission of 611.23 tonnes of CO2 per year. This is equivalent to the average CO2 emission of 3.5 million KMs from a diesel car.

Renewable energies provide substantial benefits for our climate, our health and our economy.

Benefits of the energy system:

Renewable energies are inexhaustible and unlimited sources. These clean energies come from natural sources and adapt to nature’s cycles.

Financial benefits:

These benefits include savings in energy and fuel costs for consumers, businesses, and government; profits and tax revenues for companies that support or use energy efficiency and renewable energy, such as construction, manufacturing, and services; and create new jobs.

Health Benefits:

Electricity generation based on fossil fuels is a source of air pollution that is harmful to health and leads to respiratory diseases. The burning of fossil fuels for electricity is also the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions contributing to global climate change. Improving energy efficiency and increasing the use of renewable energy can reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and their adverse consequences for health and the environment.
